PRESTONSBURG – Floyd Central took control early on against Prestonsburg and cruised to a 49-6 win over the Blackcats at Josh Francis Memorial Field this past Friday night.
The Jaguars, now 4-1, became the first county school to beat Prestonsburg on the football field since 1986.
Running back Josh Whitaker ran for four touchdowns and quarterback Caleb Hager added a pair. Whitaker rushed 18 times for 143 yards and Hager added 74 yards on six carries. He also passed for 119 yards.
Prestonsburg quarterback Brayden Slone raced 50 yards for the Blackcats only points.
Both teams are back in action Friday night on the road. The Jaguars travel to Pike Central (1-3) while the Blackcats (0-4) journey to Hazard (2-1). Both kickoffs are set for 7:30 p.m.
