BLACKLOG – Prestonsburg goalkeeper Jacob Martin was solid as the Blackcats blanked Sheldon Clark, 3-0, in a boys’ matchup played at The Rock Tuesday night.
Grant Justice knocked home two goals and Matt Burchett added another as Prestonsburg. Nate Blackburn and Jayden Porter added one assist each.
Meanwhile, Tyler Maynard scored five goals and Luke Johnson added two as Lawrence County cruised past Shelby Valley, 9-1, in a match played at Teco Field.
Luke Cassell and Will Dillow each added one goal.
Mingo Central scored a pair of goals in the second half and held on to beat Belfry, 2-1.
Ethan Mendoza and Tyler Slone each scored an unassisted goal as the Miners improved to 5-4-1.
Belfry’s lone goal came from Logan Maynard on a corner kick by Blake Kulik. The Pirates are now 2-4-1.
Gabe Hess scored the only goal for Johnson Central as the Golden Eagles played to a 1-1 tie with Perry County Central.
Hazard blank Letcher Central, 2-0 in the only other boys matchup.
Makayla Ousley had two goals and assisted on another to power Prestonsburg’s girls to a 6-0 win over Sheldon Clark. Elizabeth Burchett had one goal and one assist while Chloe Collins, Annabelle and Makayla Slone scored one goal apiece.
Chelsea Samons kept the Lady Cardinals off the scoreboard with the shutout between the pipes.
Chloe Fleming, Ava Hyden and Mary Stambaugh scored one goal each to lead Paintsville to a 3-0 win over Morgan County on the road. Haley Wells assisted on each and goalkeeper Hope Auxier recorded the shutout.
Belfry’s Robbi-Ann Brewer scored three goals to lead the Lady Pirates to a 4-0 win over Mingo Central on the road.
Mylah Caudill added the fourth goal as Belfry improved to 7-3-0.
Belfry took 15 shots on goal and Mingo Central goalkeeper Destiny Blackburn had nine saves.
The Lady Miners fell to 1-6-1.
In other girls’ matches:
Hazard shutout Letcher Central 1-0; and Johnson Central topped Pikeville, 9-1.
