LICK CREEK – East Ridge took the fifth and final set to score a thrilling 3-2 match win over Pikeville in a 59th District showdown played at The Reservation Tuesday night.
Hannah King finished with 19 kills and 15 digs in the 23-25, 25-15, 25-18, 21-25 and 15-7 win. Haley Parks totaled 17 digs and had five serving aces while Sarah Tackett had 14 kills. Kesli Slone collected 27 digs and Haylee Meade had 40 assists.
Phelps went on the road and posted a 3-0 win over Hurley, Va.
Morgan Francis had 11 kills in the 25-9, 25-11 and 25-8 match win. LaRanda Francis added seven kills and Sierra Sincell totaled five kills. Kara Stevens finished with 12 set assists.
Paintsville dominated from start to finish in a 3-0 win over Johnson Central.
Megan Taylor led the Lady Tigers with 19 kills, three blocks and four aces in the 25-4, 25-12 and 25-8 win. Lindsey Nelson finished with seven aces and 25 assists while Anna James totaled 28 digs.
