Maynard takes individual title, men finish second

OLIVE HILL – Junior Roger Maynard opened the 2018 fall season with his second career individual victory over the weekend at the Kentucky Christian Invitational to finish a sweep of individual titles at the tournament.

Maynard fired off back-to-back even-par days in the rain shortened 27-hole event. He was one of only two competitors to have an even-par day in the tournament, eventually beating out Logan Sheets of Rio Grande by two strokes.

After ending day one in fourth, UPIKE combined to shoot just 7-over-par on day two to finish second at 33-over-par, beating out West Virginia Tech and Shawnee State by one and five strokes, respectively.

A good chunk of that surge came from the strong Sundays from Trey Isenburg and Dustyn Reinstetle who shot the nine-hole second round at 1-over and 2-over par, respectively. Isenberg finished in a tie for sixth at 7-over overall and Reinstetle finished tied for 14th at 13-over. Blake Moody also finished in that 14th-place tie to round out the Bears performances.
