Lawrence County survived Belfry, 4-3, winning on penalty kicks after the matched was tied at 3-all following the second overtime in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex Tuesday night.
Christian Long accounted for all three Belfry goals, all unassisted as the Pirates dropped to 2-3-1.
Luke Johnson had three unassisted goals as well for the Bulldogs, now 7-1-0.
Belfry took 13 shots on goal while Lawrence County had 16. Belfry’s Caleb Spears had nine saves and Bulldog goalkeeper Trenton Adkins stopped seven.
Prestonsburg’s Cody Mosley scored off an assist by Isaiah Collins and the Blackcats held on for a hard-fought 1-0 win over Letcher Central on the road.
Jacob Martin recorded the shutout as the Golden Eagles improved to 5-0-2. The Cougars are now 3-2-1.
No boys’ matches are scheduled for tonight.
In girls’ action, Belfry’s Robbie-Ann Brewer had two goals and assisted on two others while Kylie Gollihue and Marki Maynard added one apiece as the Lady Pirates defeated Letcher County Central, 4-1, at Massey Energy Soccer Complex.
Letcher Central’s lone goal came from Mason Outlaw.
The Lady Pirates took 15 shots on goal with Central’s Kassandra Ramirez had nine saves. Belfry’s Kenzie Maynard stopped seven of the Lady Cougars nine shots.
LCC is now 1-2-1 while Belfry improved to 5-3-0.
Prestonsburg’s Elizabeth Burchett knocked in six goals to lead the Lady Blackcats to a 10-0 win over Shelby Valley in the All “A” Classic.
Makayla Slone added two goals while Chloe Collins and Annabelle Trusty added one apiece.
Prestonsburg improved to 4-3-0.
Lawrence County’s Zayla Granillo had two goals and one assist while Jordan Stepp added a third as the Lady Bulldogs defeated Huntington High, 3-1.
Ellie Webb had an assist as the Lady Dawgs improved to 7-1-0.
Johnson Central’s Lauren Johnson had three goals and Kelci Blair added two and one assist as the Lady Eagles cruised to an 8-0 win over Hazard in a match played at Eagle Field.
Cleo Wells knocked in a pair of goals and Lexi Scarberry added one as the Lady Eagles moved to 7-0-0.
Alyssa Pack recorded the shutout with one save.
