WAYNE – Mingo Central quarterback Daylin Goad scored on a two-yard run with 17 seconds remaining to lift the Miners to a come-from-behind 29-24 win over Wayne this past Friday night at Pioneer Field.
The Pioneers, now 1-1, had taken a 24-22 lead when quarterback Gunner Harmon hit Issac Dean with a 70-yard scoring pass play with 2:46 left.
Goad, who rushed for three scores, led the Miners, now 1-1, with 140 yards on 24 rushing attempts. Dougie Dillon, who was injured, finished with 50 yards on six carries and scored the game’s first touchdown.
Devin Hatfield hauled in four passes for 72 yards. Goad completed 10-of-17 passes for 167 yards. He was picked off twice.
The Miners will host Logan (1-1) at Buck Harless Stadium Friday night.
