PIKEVILLE – The University of Pikeville football team will look to even its record Thursday night when the Bears welcome Livingstone University to the Hambley Athletic Complex.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., with radio coverage to begin at 6:45 p.m., on 107.5 FM.
“They are a very athletic football team,” Holland said. “The coach has done a great job there, recruiting this off-season.”
UPIKE dropped its opener last Thursday to Keiser University, 24-17, in overtime. Holland said its time to put the game behind them.
“We are looking to rebound this week and get in the win column,” he said.
The Bears’ defensive unit will be without senior defensive back Taeron Brown, who suffered a season-ending injury early in the game. He had picked off a pair of passes, including the second one which resulted in the injury.
“It’s tough for because he’s a leader on this football team and now he has to take a different role,” Holland said.
Former Belfry standout Xondre Willis led the offensive attack for the Bears, rushing the football 20 times for147 yards and two touchdowns.
“He had a big game for us,” Holland said. “We need another big performance from him this week.”
The Blue Bears finished 0-11 last season.
