GOODY – West Virginia state champion contender Huntington High built a two-touchdown lead in the first half and held on to beat Belfry, 17-9, in the 34th annual Pike County Bowl matchup played at CAM Stadium this past Friday night.
The Pirates, playing without starting quarterback Avery Browning, had four turnovers, two leading to Highlander scores in the first half.
Belfry running back Isaac Dixon had 78 yards on four rushing attempts, including 68 on a third-quarter touchdown run to pull the Pirates to within eight.
Belfry’s offense was limited to just 186 yards for the game.
The Pirates will host Bryan Station Friday night.
