Miners fall in opener to Big Blacks

NEWTOWN – Mingo Central quarterback Daylin Goad completed 21-of-30 passes for 360 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Miners’ season-opening 42-35 loss to Point Pleasant at “Buck” Harless Stadium this past Friday night.

The Miners had won 22 straight, regular-season games prior to the loss.

Goad carried 12 times as well for 45 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Receiver Devin Hatfield had eight catches for 184 yards and receiver Drew Hatfield hauled in nine passes for 127 yards and a score.

Mingo Central will visit Wayne (0-1) Friday night.
