PIKEVILLE – Shelby Valley’s Lincoln Billiter caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Samuel Stanley in the second overtime to lift the Wildcats to one of the most exciting Pike County Bowl finishes, 43-35, in a matchup played at Hillard Howard Field this past Saturday night.
The Wildcats, now 2-0, had to tie the game in the first overtime. Running back Seth Johnson ran 10 yards after Central had taken an eight-point lead and then was just able to get the two-point conversion across the goal line.
Johnson rushed 25 times for 220 yards.
Clay Morgan had six carries for 94 yards and two touchdowns, including the game’s first score.
Central’s Isaac Thacker had put the Hawks (0-1) up 35-27 when he ran 10 yards and ran in the conversion in the first overtime.
The Hawks came from 14 points down in the final period to force overtime.
Johnson led Valley with 225 yards rushing and Thacker totaled 167 for Central.
Both teams are back in action Friday night as the Hawks visit Bell County (2-0) and Valley goes on the road to Ridgeview, Va. (1-0).
