Pikeville runs wild in big win at Holy Cross

COVINGTON – Pikeville erupted for 28 points in the opening period and the Panthers cruised to a 46-0 win over host Holy Cross Friday night on the banks of the Ohio River.

Quarterback Connor Roberts had three rushing touchdowns, all in the first half. Jackson Hensley returned a punt 55-yard for a score.

Zack Roberts scored the game’s first points just 21 seconds into the game on a five-yard run. Nate Collins capped the scoring with a 51-yard TD run early in the fourth period.

Collins rushed six times for 85 yards to lead the ground attack. Connor Roberts added 44 yards and four carries and completed 3 of six passes for 49 yards, including a 40-yard reception by Kyle Watkins.

Pikeville returns to the Hambley Complex Saturday night against Lexington Christian in the finale of the 34th annual Pike County Bowl. Kickoff is set for approximately 9 p.m.
