GRAYSON – Magoffin County took an early lead against East Carter, but the Raiders stormed back to score a 47-12 win over the Hornets Friday night.
Brady Whitaker scored on a 13-yard run for Magoffin County in the opening period. He rushed nine times for 48 yards and finished with four receptions for 49.
Quarterback Lucas Litteral hit Matt Watkins with a 36-yard scoring strike for the Hornets final points in the second period. Litteral was 8-of-24 passing for 111 yards. Watkins hauled in four passes for 62 yards.
Eric Carter had a pair of touchdown runs for East Carter. Quarterback Brandon Hicks tossed a 34-yard TD pass to Jacob Underwood to ignite a 28-point, fourth quarter.
The Hornets will play their home opener against Lawrence County Friday.
