P’burg boys, girls top Belfry
BOYS ROUNDUP
Johnson Central’s John Kennard scored three goals and assisted on two others to lead the Golden Eagles to a season-opening 5-3 win over Morgan County in a match played at Eagle Field on Tuesday night.
Jake Headley added two goals and three assists while goalkeeper Travis Caudill did enough to hold off MC.
Prestonsburg’s Blackcats went on the road to Massey Soccer Complex and beat host Belfry, 5-0.
Isaiah Collins and Grant Justice had two goals each while Matt Burchett added one goal and assisted on two others. GoalkeeperJacob Martin had six saves.
Shelby Valley struggled on the home turf at Teco Field as visiting Hazard cruised to a 8-0 win.
Kyle Johnson had three goals and Thomas Massey added two in the win. Jonah Helm, Jacob Fugate and Nick Combs scored one each.

GIRLS ROUNDUP
Prestonsburg’s Lady Blackcats dominated its match on the road, beating host Belfry 4-1 at Massey Soccer Complex.
Makayla Ousley had two goals and assisted on another while Elizabeth Burchett scored once and assisted on two others. Annabelle Trusty added one goal. Goalkeeper Chelsea Sammons allowed just a single goal.
Belfry’s lone goal came from Marki Maynard off a corner kick by Samantha Smith.
Prestonsburg had 26 shots on goal. Belfry’s Kenzie Maynard had 14 saves.
Shelby Valley’s Hannah Adams scored one goal off an assist by Abby Branham but it wasn’t enough as Hazard came to Teco Field and left with a 3-1 victory.
Lawrence County rolled to a 10-0 road when at Grayson over East Carter.
Sarah Lucas scored three goals while Sheree Hay added two. Hayleigh Fletcher, Zayla Granillo, Jasmine Justice, Kylie Maynard and Jordan Stepp had one each.
Ellie Webb assisted on six goal and goalkeeper Allyson Moore recorded the shutout.
Johnson Central overwhelmed Morgan County, 10-0, in a match at Eagle Field.
Lauren Johnson had three goals and assisted on another while Cleo Wells and Kelsi Blair each had two goals and one assist.
Lauren Hard scored on a header off a corner kick by Johnson while Haley Lykins and Lexi Scarberry added one goal apiece.
Goalkeeper Alyssa Pack was solid in the shutout win. Haley May also saw action between the pipes.
