Shelby Valley freshman Cassidy Rowe will be evaluated next week after suffering a torn ACL while playing AAU play in Chicago.
Head coach and father Doe Doe Rowe told EKBSports.com they are working this weekend to get the swelling down and will go back to the doctor on Monday to plan the surgery.
ACL surgery is done to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament, one of the major ligaments in the knee.
It is a common injury among high school and college athletes in several sports, including basketball.
Rowe could miss anywhere from six to eight months, depending on her recovery.
She helped Shelby Valley advance to the All “A” Classic state championship game as an eighth-grader. Rowe is among the top returning players across Kentucky and is already being mentioned as a “Miss Kentucky” candidate.
Rowe received her fourth Division I scholarship offer on Friday from the University of Kentucky. Others include Murray State, Northern Kentucky and Morehead State.
