PIKEVILLE – Paintsville’s future is bright, thanks to stars like freshman hurler Mason Moore.
Moore capped off a perfect 7-0 season for the Tigers by defeating Christian County, 3-1, in the opening round of the state baseball tournament last week in Lexington.
The Tiger hurler has been named EBK Sports’ Player of the Year in helping lead Paintsville to an overall record of 26-13 and 15th Region championship.
Coach of the Year honors went to Phelps’ Zach Avina. He guided the Hornets to a 17-10 record and first regional tournament appearance in 10 years.
The second team is captained by Pike Central’s Jonathan Potter, a junior pitcher. The Hawks finished 23-6.
