BUCKLEYS CREEK – Pike County Central scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to snap a 2-all tie and the Lady Hawks went on to eliminate Phelps, 8-2, in a game played at the Hawks Nest May 18.
Winning pitcher Kayleigh Thomas scattered four hits and struck out 10 batters as Central (15-19) advanced to face Belfry (23-6) in the championship game at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Pike Central.
Skylar Stumbo had two hits, including a triple, scored twice and batted in one run while Maddie Vaughn doubled and added two RBIs. Sydnee Lowe singled in one run while Thomas doubled, walked, scored and drove in one run.
Ssummer Marcum doubled and scored while Chloe Neece and Bailey Birchfield both singled and scored. A Huffman singled, walked and scored twice.
M Layne singled and scored in the loss. Losing pitcher Hannah Blankenship added two hits while K Dotson singled, walked and added an RBI.
