PHELPS – Phelps blocked a final three-point basket attempt from Pike County Central with time running down and the Hornets turned back the Hawks, 39-36, before an electrifying crowd Friday night to capture the 60th District boys’ championship at the McCoy Athletic Center.
Trey Francis finished with a game-high 15 points, including nine in the final period as the Hornets (15-14) won their first title since 2012. Seth Mayhorn followed with nine.
Keegan Bentley led the Hawks (18-13) with 14 points and Brady Adkins tossed in 10.
