59TH DISTRICT: Three-peat for Pikeville Panthers

LICK CREEK – In a game that went back and forth all night, Pikeville used a big fourth quarter to take the lead away from Shelby Valley and the Panthers captured the 59th District Tournament championship with a 74-68 win at East Ridge High School Feb. 21.

The Panthers, now 21-8, have won six straight and 10 of their last 11 games and won its third straight tournament title. Pikeville enters the 15th Region Tournament as one of four number one seeds. The Wildcats dropped to 27-5.

Christian Billiter poured in 19 points while Kyle Watkins and Connor Roberts added 16 apiece.

Valley’s Cody Potter led all scorers with a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds.  Cameron Worrix hit for 6 and Sam Stanley tossed in 11.

The Wildcats are a number two seed in the regional.
