58TH DISTRICT: Floyd Central stuns Lawrence County

LOUISA – A season filled with so many lows for the Floyd Central Jaguars turned to joy following a stunning 56-54 victory over Lawrence County in the 58th District Tournament matchup played at the Dawg House Feb. 19.

The Jaguars, now 5-24, had  lost both regular-season games to the Bulldogs (22-8). Central will face Prestonsburg in the championship game.

Brady Conn finished with a game-high 30 points and 13 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Blake Slone chipped in nine.

Tyler Maynard paced the Bulldogs with 15 points while Chase Sartin tallied 12 and Alex Ratliff tossed in 11.

LOUISA – Prestonsburg built a double-digit, halftime lead against Betsy Layne and ran away in the second half to score  a 69-47 victory in the 58th District Tournament matchup played at the Dawg House Feb. 19.

Blake Slone poured in a game-high 28 points while Adams Slone tossed in 14 as the Blackcats moved to 16-14. Graham Burchett chipped in 10.

Brady Robinson paced the Bobcats (13-16) with 10 points. Shawn Howell and Nate Mims followed with eight points apiece.
