LOUISA – Regional power Lawrence County and Floyd Central will clash in the 58th District baseball championship at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Dawg House following opening-round wins this past Saturday.
The Bulldogs, now 31-5, blanked Betsy Layne, 10-0, as pitcher Bryce Blevins tossed a no-hitter. He stuck out six over five innings. Byron Tackett was tagged with the loss as the Bobcats season ended at 9-18.
Tyler Maynard had two hits and knocked in three runs while Jackson Feltner added two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Austin Roe added a pair of RBIs and Hunter Crum finished with two hits.
Floyd Central, now 13-17, built a big lead early on and cruised to a 6-3 victory over Prestonsburg.
Chase Conley pitched four shutout innings and struck out six before giving away to Matt Combs who worked the final three frames.
Caleb Hager tripled, singled, scored and drove in one run while Chase Conley added two hits and added an RBI. Combs singled and knocked in one run. Brayden Hamilton singled and scored a pair of runs.
Losing pitcher Graham Burchett collected two hits and batted in one run for the Blackcats, who season ended at 7-23. Aaron Shepherd added an RBI.
