57TH DISTRICT: JC punches ticket to finals

PAINTSVILLE – Johnson Central used a big second quarter to take charge against Magoffin County and the Golden Eagles went on to score a 75-67 victory in the 57th District Tournament game played on Bill “Mike” Runyon Court Feb. 20.

Cory VanHoose led four Golden Eagles, now 23-7, with a game-high 24 points. Gabe Ferrell followed with 17 while Jacob Rice tossed in 15. Isaiah May finished with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Aden Barnett paced the Hornets, who finished up the season at 15-15, with 22 points while Brady Whitaker finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. Chandler Lykins and Randy Bailey tossed in 11 each.
