53RD DISTRICT BASEBALL: Cougars top Lions; fall to Pats

HINDMAN – Letcher Central rolled to a 16-0, mercy-rule win over Cordia before falling to Knott County Central, 12-2, in the championship game of the 53rd District tournament played May 18.

Sam Little tossed a no-hitter over three innings  in the victory over the Lions. He struck out three.

Nick Mason and Jakob Slone had two hits each and both drove in a pair of runs. Jonah Little added a pair of RBIs  and Trevor Hardin added a pair of hits.

Knott Central pushed across eight runs in the bottom of the second inning to erase a two-run deficit and defeat the Cougars.

Greg Kincer suffered the loss as LCC dropped to 14-17. Matt Craft had a pair of hits.

Letcher Central and Knott Central now move on to the 14th Region tournament next week.
