PHELPS – Phelps took the early lead against Belfry and the Hornets never looked back in rolling to a 67-36 victory over the Pirates in the 60th District Tournament played at the McCoy Athletic Center Feb. 19.
The Hornets, now 14-14, advance to Friday night’s championship game against Pike County Central. Both teams, regardless of the outcome, will move on to the regional tournament next week at the Expo.
Dominick Francis fired in a game-high 16 points and Cameron Sanson followed with 13. Seth Mayhorn tallied nine while Trey Francis and Brandon Turnmire added eight apiece.
Avery Browning led the Pirates (8-22) with nine points and Dezmon Roblee chipped in seven.

PHELPS – Belfry took the lead away from Phelps in the third period and went on to score a 53-36 victory in the 60th District Tournament played at the McCoy Athletic Center Feb. 19.
McKenzie Maynard tossed in 17 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to finish with a double-double as the Lady Pirates moved to 12-17 and advance to Thursday night’s championship game against Pike County Central.
Linzee Phillips followed with 12 points and Kylea Stanley tossed in 10.
Danielle Prater paced the Lady Hornets (12-15) with 14 points while Gabby McCoy chipped in seven.
