Hensley earns EKB Sports’ Player of the Week honor

Pikeville junior Jackson Hensley had to watch from the sidelines following an injury in the second half against three-peat champion Beechwood as his team put together one last drive.

It was his play earlier in the game, giving his team a chance to win. Jackson had TD passes of 57 and 65 yards to pull the Panthers within two points of the Tigers. He finished with four catches for 154 yards.

For his championship game performance, Hensley has been named EKB Sports’ Player of the Week.

This week’s honor roll includes:

Pikeville quarterback Connor Roberts passed for 243 yards and three touchdowns in the Panthers loss to the Tigers.

Johnson Central running back Joe Jackson ran for 112 yards and two touchdowns in the Golden Eagles 14-12 loss to Franklin-Simpson.

Phelps’ Trey Francis poured in 23 and 27 points to help the Hornets get off to a 2-0 start.

Sheldon Clark’s Trey James netted 21 and 26 and finished with a double-double in both games.

Phelps’s Danielle Prater finished the week with 50 points, including 30 in the season opening win as the Lady Hornets start the season 2-0.

Prestonsburg’s Kaitlyn Keathley averaged 18 points in three games this past week, including 26 and eight rebounds in a loss to Letcher Central.

Pike Central’s Cassidy Mullins had 46 points in three games for the Lady Hawks.
