LANGLEY – Pikeville saw its season come to an end as the Panthers’ late rally against Lawrence County came up short, 6-4, in the 15th Region Tournament semifinals played at Floyd Central Memorial Day.
Tate Walters had two hits and drove in three runs as the Panthers season ended at 17-18. Brody Birchfield added two hits and batted in one run. Conner Wright finished with a pair of hits.
Grayson Harris was the losing pitcher.
Tyler Maynard drove in three runs for the Bulldogs, who advance into tonight’s championship game against Johnson Central at 7 p.m.
C.J. Fairchild was the winning pitcher.

LANGLEY – Pikeville pinch-hitter Seth Pugh delivered a clutch one-out single in the top of the sixth inning to drive in the go-ahead runs as the Panthers rallied past Pike County Central, 6-4, in the opening round of the 15th Region Tournament played at Floyd Central May 25.
The Panthers (17-17), who trailed 4-3 going into the frame, scored three times on two hits. Lucas Justice walked and scored while Conner Wright singled, and Jackson Hensley walked ahead of Pugh’s single.
Nate Collins singled in one run. Brady Clark came on in relief to earn the win.
D’Sean Prinkleton had a huge game for the Hawks, who season ended at 16-18. He blasted a two-run, first inning home run ad then doubled in a run. Losing pitcher Jonathan Potter singled and scored. Gavin Crum added a double.
