LANGLEY – The Belfry Pirates used a five-run, sixth inning to pull away and beat Shelby Valley, 11-3, in the opening round of the 15th Region Tournament played at Floyd Central May 25.
Brett Coleman, tripled, singled, scored three runs and drove in one as the Pirates moved to 20-9. Adam Rahe added two hits, including a double and knocked in two runs while scoring once.
Avery Browning singled, scored and added a pair of RBIs. Austin Fields had two hits, including a double, scored two runs and batted in one. Sean Cochran added two hits, scored and had an RBI.
Wyatt Webb was the starter and winner for the Pirates.
Logan Billiter doubled in a pair of runs for the Wildcats, who saw their season end at 16-16. Samuel Brown added two singles and scored. Jeremiah Prater had two hits and Jackson Wierwille singled, walked three times and scored.
Hunter Mullins was tagged with the loss.
